Level Up Your Teaching: Transform Learning with Flipped Classrooms and Edpuzzle

Have you ever wished you had more time in class for meaningful discussions and active learning?

That’s exactly what the flipped classroom model offers: students explore and prepare lessons at home, while class time is dedicated to interactive and participatory activities such us discussions, collaboration, practice, and clarification. This shift allows students to become the central figures in the learning process and take an active role in constructing knowledge.

In an effort to transform the traditional education system, the flipped classroom strategy was created to foster active, independent, responsible, and flexible learning,  reversing the classic model.

But why has this strategy revolutionized education?

And yes, applying this strategy is indeed a challenge for teachers. It requires being well-prepared, investing extra time and effort into creating high-quality digital content, and facing the reality that it’s not always possible to control whether students watch the videos or complete their pre-class work.

However, there is a very powerful digital tool that has helped me in overcoming these challenges and has supported me every time I have tried to put this strategy into practice. In addition, it has helped me ensure the class runs successfully, allowing my students to take greater ownership of the topic, become the protagonists of their own learning, question, interact, and work in teams. It has allowed me, as a teacher, to focus more on strengthening their weaknesses rather than spending the entire class re-teaching concepts, because my students arrive with a strong foundation.

So today, I want to share with you a tool that changed my life: Edpuzzle, a platform that allows you to share content, so students can learn the theoretical material at home.

Isn’t that exactly what the flipped classroom approach aims for? Absolutely!

But why use Edpuzzle and not another tool?

Here’s what makes it stand out:

  • Insert open-ended or multiple-choice questions at specific points in a video. Add voice notes or explanatory comments to enhance understanding. Use your own videos or choose from platforms like YouTube, Khan Academy, National Geographic, and more.
  • Get real-time reports on student progress: see who watched the video, how long they spent, and how they responded. Identify individual or class-wide challenges. You can now also create Standalone Quizzes.
  • Integrate presentations with interactive elements to guide your lesson step by step.
  • Create or import classes and assign tasks directly. Seamlessly integrates with Google Classroom and other LMS platforms.

Imagine a classroom where deep discussions and interactive learning aren’t rushed, wouldn’t that be powerful?

The flipped classroom is more than just studying content at home; it builds students’ confidence and participation. You walk into class knowing who’s ready and who needs support. So, if you’re looking to make your classes more effective, personalized, and student-centered, try flipping your classroom with Edpuzzle.

Are you ready to try Edpuzzle in your flipped classroom? Or have you already used it? How was your experience?
