It is incredible how a lot of people that do not speak a second language can use some apps to communicate a message or translate information.

They interact with someone face to face and the app is the bridge. It is the case of some receptionists that have told me they always use a translator app to give information about the hotel to the clients. Those are great tools and extremely useful when they receive foreigners and do not speak their language. Google translate is one of these tools. People use it just to translate words, sentences, or paragraphs. They can record their voice note and the app delivers the message in the target language. What about if people use this app to learn languages? Some of the most complicated limitations in South America are the lack of chances to improve our language skills such as pronunciation. People do not have interactions with native speakers very often, so there are very few chances to hear how language sounds. Common apps can give them an opportunity to monitor and improve their pronunciation.

How? People can use those translator apps to write sentences. Then, they can listen to the pronunciation and repeat it aloud, imitating the intonation.

After that, they can use the app to speak and record sentences. Google translate can record your voice and transcribe sentences. The person can check if the app shows the same words on the screen. If the words are correct, obviously, the learner is improving his pronunciation. If the app does not show the same words, they will have the chance to try the above steps again.

People can also record their voice with a voice recorder on their phones and compare the pronunciation with the pronunciation given by the translator app.

When? People can use the app every time they are online. They only need time to review the words, phrases, or sentences and practice them when they have free time.

How often? Every time people want. If they need to improve their speaking, they can do exercises many times.

There are several tools to help improve language skills. These tools are available. Let’s try it!
